Week Ten – Field Experience – Technical Services

Describe the technical services areas at your field placement and how technical services are delivered (eg. outsourced, in-house, centrally managed). How are they similar to the descriptions discussed in class? How are they different?


 

All of the materials are added to the system via a bar code scan and the amount of the item and the price can be altered in-house by the working the computer. The way that Blue Heron Books processes materials is very different than what we have learned in class. The items are being sold to costumers, not borrowed, so a lot of the work that goes into protecting the books from being stolen once borrowed is not needed.
